Pete Tadros wins on another trip up Steyning Bostal.
Tadros maintained his perfect record with another win in Saturday's event. His 4:11.0 was seven seconds slower than his winning time from the Mitre event earlier in the month, but was very comfortably clear of second place man Nik Bowdler.Bowdler, the 2008 BAR winner isn't noted as a climber so was a bit of an unknown quantity, as was visitor Paul Murphy of Tyneside Vagabonds. As it was, Bowdler's 4:26.5 was the only other ride under 4:30 and Murphy claimed 3rd spot with a commendable 4:41.3. Sholto Haggart of Brighton Mitre claimed 4th overall and 2nd in the SCA Affiliated clubs standings. Rob Pelham of VC In-Gear was 5th overall and 3rd in the SCA ranking. Ed Klose of Worthing Excelsior was the fastest junior with 4:55.1 which gave him an excellent 6th overall. Debbie Percival of 34Nomads was fastest lady. Commiserations must go to Jeremy Wootton. Having ridden out on his MTB, he punctured before the start and had to do the whole climb with a totally flat tyre. If riding knobbly tyres wasn't bad enough! |

Laurence Harding of Shorter Rochford RT storms the Worthing 25 winning on 53:55, well over 2 minutes quicker than second place man Lee Turner. With the absence of Coyle and Mardall, Paul Thatcher of Brighton Mitre was the fastest Sussex rider coming in fourth with 57:10.
A very on form Doug Fox of Crawley Wheelers was 7th overall and 2nd vet. Adrian Rodgers was the fastest rider from Worthing coming in 13th and unluckily missing the hour by 20 seconds. |

Michael Hutchinson of InGear-Quickvit RT demolished the field on Sunday's 25, winning by over 4 minutes.
It's perhaps fortunate that he doesn't come come south of the Thames that much as none of the local fast boys had any answer to his pace. That said Steve Dennis' 2nd place time of 54:59 wasn't exactly slow and Mike Coyle was only 26 sec behind for 3rd spot. Matt Miles of Kent based Wildside707 Road Team followed up his recent win at the Catford CC 10 with 4th and another visitor, Nick Varley of Sydenham Wheelers rounded out the top 5. Iain Brogden of Eastbourne Rovers and Nick Dwyer of Lewes Wanderers are both quite new to the racing scene but continue to put in fantastic times, finishing 6th and 9th respectively. With Karl promoting the event it was down to dad Mel to fly the Roberton family flag and he did this by convincingly taking the Vets Std award. Fastest lady was Sandra Blenkinsop of Kingfisher Triathletes with 1:11:13 and Ed Klose of Worthing Excelsior was fastest Junior with an excellent 1:6:15. In the team placings, GS Stella were edged out of top spot by InGear though that would have been an entirely different result had one M Hutchinson not ridden. |
