New Sussex based Time Trial courses for 2021

Full course information and Garmin downloads of the courses are available via the buttons.
Picture
Four clubs began having events together in 1921 which led to all Sussex clubs being invited in 1925 to join a new association called the Sussex Cyclists' Association.

New 10.
Picture
Introduced for Crawley Wheelers club events. Note that straight line distance between start and finish is 1.5 miles.

10 mile GS course.

PROPOSED alternative 2-up course for Sussex C.A.
Picture
A new South Holmwood A24/A29 based course. To be used for the Southern Counties events on 5th April.

Courses that were new in 2019

Picture
A club-only course due to the distance between start and end points.

Picture
A new A264 Horsham/Crawley 10 course (trying yet again to dodge the onslaught of emerging road layout changes and problems). The good news is that it's lowered the roundabout ratio in the area - with just 10 to negotiate on the 10 mile course.

Picture
A return of a (slightly revised) club course.

This course was used for club events 1997-2002 until McDonalds was built and the start was replaced by the traffic lights west of the crossroads. With the large entrance to a huge field west of the lights, there is now an alternative start.

Note that the radius between start and finish exceeds the limit of reg. 35 as per the CTT handbook but it has been sanctioned for club events.

Picture
A revised (extended) version of the Hard Riders course. It is now a standard distance of 25 miles.

Courses that were new in 2018

Picture
A new North Horsham based 25 to be used by the SCCU 25 for the first time in September 2018. It is necessitated by the ongoing roadworks/developments in the Crawley area which have led to the demise of G25/54.

Picture
Created by SCA affiliated club ...a3crg. This is a slight variant of the popular P884b/25 course and will feature in the 2018  National Champs.

(The reason for the change is that for the National Champs Bohunt School will be the race HQ; the start isn’t an issue, it is the finish.  By finishing along the A3 rider can turn off at Longmoor & return via the cycle path rather than having to go all the way to Ham Barn to return.)

Picture
Created by SCA affiliated club ...a3crg. One of two courses aimed at enticing people out for a fast 15.

A new 10 mile course for club events only: Halland - Laughton - A22

Courses that were new in 2017

Emergency course created as an alternative due to road closure (roadworks for repairs on bridge on A283 near to Beeding Court roundabout).

Picture
Emergency course created as an alternative due to road closure (roadworks for repairs on bridge on A283 near to Beeding Court roundabout).

This course was used in 2008 when the same bridge was being repaired. Robin Johnson reports that: "A 56 by Richard Prebble won it in October 2008, 83 riders, a wet and breezy morning". In addition Brighton Excelsior used it in 2013 for their open 25 and, with a NE wind, it was quicker than the usual course.

Picture
A revamp of the G100/61 course - avoiding North Henfield (and the man who complains about the disk wheel noise) but starting with a steep climb to Ansty, and including an extra half lap of the Ashurst circuit together with a different finish line (nearer the race HQ in Dial Post).

Picture
Not actually a new course as such - but the start has been moved 0.04 miles further forward for safety reasons (so that should save a couple of seconds of your race time - in theory).

Picture
A 10 mile course for club events only, on the Ellen's Green Circuit.

Picture
A 25 mile course for club events only, on the Ellen's Green Circuit. Four and a bit laps of a tight 6.1 mile circuit

Picture
A rebranding of the old GS/482 course (which was 17.48 miles long until being revised in 2013)

Courses that were new in 2016

Picture
A challenging and very sporting 10 course.

To be used in 2016, firstly by ...a3crg in February for their Hardriders 10, and again by the same club in July.
Then in August it is the setting for the RTTC National Championship 10.

Picture
A short sharp climb from Eastbourne seafront up to Beachy Head.

Picture
A new hill climb for those who like such things. It's at Butts Lane, Willingdon.

Courses that were new in 2015

Picture
A slight revision to GS/838

Picture
Introduced for the inaugural SCA 15 mile Championship event.
The terrain will be familiar to regular time triallists as it forms part of the Ashurst circuit used on many courses including G25/93, G30/91, G50/10, G100/61, GS/982, GS987.

Picture
Introduced for the SCCU Sporting 25 as an alternative to G25/44 because of long term road works on that course.
It is two and a half laps of the G10/46 Oakwood Hill circuit. So it's going to be quite a challenge with repeated hill climbs.

Picture
Major roadworks and the introduction of new junctions has meant that the Broadbridge Heath based 53 courses have increasingly become unusable. In the latter stages of 2014 an alternative G25/53E course was tried out.
This has now been adopted as the replacement course and is rebranded as G25/54.

Picture
Similar to what's happened with G24/54. The A24 roadworks meant that a new G100/60E course was used in 2014 - and it's now been rebranded as G100/61.

Picture
New for 2015

Picture
“Hurting on Harting”. This is a new 22.5 mile sporting circuit from Midhurst (A272) to Harting onto Lavant (and then returning to Midhurst A286).  This West Sussex course crosses the South Downs Way in two places; Harting Hill and Cocking Down.
