Welcome to the Sussex Cyclists' Association
The Sussex Cyclists' Association has member clubs throughout Sussex.
Here you will find everything you need to know about time trialling in Sussex. Whether you want to ride an open event, look up the route of a course, see the results sheet for an event, or check on competition standings or records, then you should find everything here. Contact details are provided for officials of the SCA and also for all affiliated clubs so please ask if you're not sure about anything.
With the 2016 season now underway, here is all the information for the Sussex CA events and competitions for the year ahead. There are lots of Sussex Championship awards up for grabs for both individuals and teams together with a range of competitions which riders and teams from Sussex CA affiliated clubs are automatically included, whether they know it or not! Why not take a moment to familiarise yourself with what’s on offer and get your club mates on board to target the trophies and gather some gongs!
New for 2016 the Sussex Points competition has had an overhaul and now includes all Sussex CA or Sussex Championship events for solo riders over set distances, and we have also introduced a separate competition for women. We have called time on the little understood 25 mile team championship which was based on A and B teams (being the 5th, 6th and 7th rider) and brought it in line with all other Sussex Championship events to be based on teams of three from an affiliated club. There will also be a team trophy awarded for the Sussex Championship 10.
SCA - 2016 EVENT PROGRAMME
All events are Open events. Helmets and rear lights are highly recommended.
The CHAMPIONSHIP 100 will be incorporated in the following event:
Full details of each event can be found on the CTT web site, along with the facility
to enter on-line.
NEW TO TIME TRIALLING?
All time trials and hill climbs are administered by Cycling Time Trials (CTT). You will need to be a member of a CTT affiliated club in order to race (unless it is a Club event designated as 'Come and Try It')
These races are relaxed and informal, and are the ideal way to begin. You don't need to enter in advance but can sign up at the event. Check the web site of your local club.
You will need to sign up in advance, and generally the closing date for entries is around two weeks prior to the event. Sussex based courses can be prefixed with a 'G' (London South District) or a 'P' (South District) dependent upon their location.
Full sets of Sussex Competition results dating back to season 2005 are now available. There is an honours board showing which club or individual won the main prize. So if you're curious to find out who was the Ladies 25 Champion in 2006, or just want to remind yourself who the main competitors were going back in time then this is the place for you.
No, not the competitors. It's all those people whose love of the sport and whose good nature means that they selflessly give up their time and get up at ridiculous hours of the day and camp out at busy, cold and draughty roadsides just so that the events can take place. So please support the event programme and do make sure that you thank them each and every time!
