Pelham is the class of the field in the SCCU 100.
Rob Pelham of Lewes Wanderers convincingly won Sunday's SCCU 100 and set a new course record with 3:52:40. This put him 8:01 clear of 2nd place Keith Coffey of Bec CC (4:0:41), who narrowly beat 3rd place man Dave Shepherd of GS Stella (4:00:51). Rupert Burbidge of Redhill CC is another man having an excellent season and very narrowly missed out on a podium spot, finishing just four seconds behind Shepherd with 4:00:55. With Pelham brilliantly upsetting the form book, 'normal service' was resumed with Bec CC claiming the team prize with James Hughes and Shaun Kennedy joining Coffey. The ladies prize was hotly contested with Deborah Percival of 34 Nomads CC claiming the top spot with 4:31:48 ahead of Juliette Clark of PBscience.com (4:32:25). |

Looking at the 09 results, it's clear that Sunday's conditions were considerably better as just about everyone who's ridden both years, were notably quicker. Special mentions must go to Wojciech Kozielski of Old Portlians, who casually mentioned on the start line that this was his first time trial! He went on to record a commendable 5:26:45. Grant Pike of Kingston Phoenix also deserves mention for being the only Trike rider and for clocking a plus of 35:40 on his standard time. He finished in 6:12:25. At time of writing there is no information on how these results affect the current SCA points placings. Suffice to say that Pelham, Shepherd and Mel Roberton will have consolidated their current standing | |
