An excellent selection of results for Sussex riders and Hutch takes his eleventh title.
Michael Hutchinson was untouchable on Sunday's 50 championship TT on the A3, romping in home in a new course record 1:38:55 This put him 2:15 clear of 2nd place Mark Holton of drag2zero (1:41:10), with Kevin Tye (Data Team Allstars) 3rd with 1:43:24. Previous course record holder, Steve Dennis of East Grinstead CC very narrowly missed out on a podium spot, coming fourth with 1:43:38. Initially calm conditions greeted the men on Sunday morning but with the thermometer only floating around 7' C, Sussex event regular Andrew Green of Addiscombe CC was practically in winter gear when he set of #5. The temperature did rise but unfortunately so did the wind and the men had to contend with similar conditions to which the ladies faced the night before; a northerly wind which probably made the trip up to Bramshott feel like riding to Birmingham. |

Sussex riders were well represented though some DNSs took their toll on the GS Stella team and Brian Phillips of East Grinstead DNF'd due to a puncture. No such worries for Lewes Wanderers who improved their team 50 for the second time this year and Uckfield based In-Gear who had new man Dave Wheeler join Dave Pollard and Dr Hutch. Steve Dennis East Grinstead 1:43:38 Dave Wheeler In-Gear 1:47:07 Nick Dwyer Lewes Wanderers 1:47:31 Rob Pelham Lewes Wanderers 1:50:18 Dave Pollard In-Gear 1:51:50 Dave Shepherd GS Stella 1:53:37 Tony Reeves GS Stella 1:59:14 The Ladies event was held on Saturday night and whilst the field was smaller, the quality of the riders wasn't any less, with pre race favourite Julia Shaw (UTAG Yamaha.com)utterly destroying the field with 1:46:46. Julia's ride was so good that not only was she nearly 8 minutes faster than 2nd place Mathilde Mattjisse of Ferryhill Wheelers (1:54:29), she would have got 16th place in the mens event! With Juliette Clark now with PBScience.com the only Sussex lady riding was Elizabeth Brama of Brighton Phoenix AC and Tri. Lizzy's excellent time of 2:04:22 put her 17th overall. | |
