Instone smashes Central Sussex course record
With a course record 35-23 Ben Instone (www.scientific-coaching.com) notched up his first success of the new season when he took the Central Sussex 17.5-mile circuit time trial at Steyning, West Sussex. Instone’s effort gave him a winning margin of 1-38 over Peter Tadros (In Gear-Quickvit RT), 37-01. Jaco Ehlers (In Gear Development Squad) came home in third with 39-28. Tadros was first to beat the old course record, knocking 36 seconds off of it. Peter’s glory was short lived, once Instone finishing a couple of minutes later, slashed 2-14 of the previous best of 37-37. Fastest Vet on standard for the second year running was Mel Roberton (Worthing Excelsior), 2:30 clear of Richard Williams (Farnham), closely followed by Geoff Smith (Sussex Nomads_ GS Stella’s trio of Tony Reeves, Kevin Shaw and Mark Jones filled seventh, eighth and ninth spots to take the team race while Elaine Scott (Brighton Excelsior) was fastest woman with her 54-01.
